The Besson French Meha is a piece of trumpet history. This model was manufactured by Besson before and after WWII, and is regarded as one of the best lead trumpets manufactured in its time. Many modern professional trumpets that have become industry-standards were inspired by the innovations of the Besson company. Conrad Gozzo, lead trumpet player for Glen Gray and Harry James, preferred a French Meha, and it is what he played through most of his career. It was most notably used in stereo re-recordings of big band classics, where it could soar above the rest of the band but still give that 1920's jazz sound that listeners had fallen in love with.
For a used instrument, this Besson Meha is a real gem. It was given a beautiful gold plate that makes the instrument look stunning and new, and comes with a brand-new protective case. Any dents that the trumpet suffered in its life have been worked out, and all slides and valves move freely and easily. It has been inspected by our professional brass technician and it is ready for you to come in and try it out! This trumpet would be an excellent buy for a collector of these Mehas, or for a player looking for a trumpet that can hold its own in any big band. The availability of these vintage is dwindling so don't miss your chance to own a gorgeous piece of trumpet history.
